Sharing from the HNAers
Jan Heidrich
Jan studied political science with a strong focus
on East Asia at the Universities of London and Cambridge. His ambition to
understand Chinese business practices eventually led him to the HNA Group,
which he entered in 2016 as a management trainee. After an eight-month stint at
HNA Tourism's Board of Directors Office, he now works at the HNA Group's CSR
Department, where he helps manage existing and develop new CSR activities.
"Other than specific professional expertise
(especially in the fields of project management and marketing), the past year
at the HNA Group has equipped me with a good initial understanding of how to
manage people and businesses within a Chinese context - this is valuable
contextual knowledge that I hope to further develop as I continue my journey
within the Group. As a foreign national with a deep professional interest in
the Chinese economy, understanding the modus operandi of one of the country's
largest conglomerates is most definitely an important asset."
Jared Mazzanti
Jared attended the University of California,
Berkeley as an undergraduate. Upon graduating with an MBA from Central South
University in China’s Hunan province in 2016, he joined HNA as a management
trainee and is currently a Senior Human Resources Officer at HNA Group
Headquarters.
“I think my biggest contribution to the company has
been helping new foreign employees navigate HNA and helping the company find
ways to better meet the needs of international employees. As HNA continues to
internationalize, it has to find ways to adapt its processes to meet the needs
of a global workforce, but at the same time, HNA’s international employees must
also be ready to integrate themselves into the company. I see myself as a
mediator and feel that what I have done to facilitate people’s transition in
the company has been one of my biggest contributions.”
Natalie Beach
Natalie is from the UK. She
studied for her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Manchester and her
Master’s degree at Edinburgh University. She has been working for HNA since
March 2017 in the HR Department of HNA Group.
“I am enjoying my time in HR so far, but I would
also like the opportunity to learn more about HNA’s CSR and Branding. I think
CSR and branding is really important for HNA right now with the
internationalization and rapid growth so I think it could be a really
interesting area to get involved with.”
Paulina Wolnikowska
Paulina is from Poland and
graduated from Hainan University, where she pursued her MBA degree. She has
obtained certificates from Harvard University in Contracts Law, a Diploma in
Global Human Resources and a certificate in Psychology from Tsinghua University
through online learning platforms. Paulina has been working for
HNA as a Business Specialist since March 2017. Her work mostly centers on
planning and implementing HNA’s international training program for its senior
management team.
“I think my biggest contribution to the company is
my cross-cultural role. As HNA continues rapid global growth, the company
has to face some cultural barriers, people from different countries interact
and are expected to perform and make decisions in the best way possible. My
goal is to develop awareness between employees where a common cultural
framework doesn’t exist in order to promote clear lines of communication and
better relationships.”
